Problems come and go, but decisions change the flow
Hi everyone,
This is going to be another short article. Im in my first week of my holidays, 3 more to go. I know I should be just relaxing, but I like to keep in touch with my Facebook fans out there. I don´t know if its just the weather or that time of year but it seems I´ve been getting a few people asking me questions about how to deal with problems. So here is my article for you all.
================
1. Problems come and go, think big!
Ok lets face it, problems come and go and they are pretty much here to stay. The more you keep denying this truth and I say truth, the more frustrated and stressed you will be. I know because I have been there myself, I am a problem solver by nature so I have this uncanny knack of finding problems. Remember you get what you focus on so if you always think about problems, guess whats going to happen. You´re going to have more problems! When problems come and go, think about solutions.
Do you know the secret to overcoming big problems? Have even bigger and better solutions. So the secret is to think out of the box and think big. If you have a problem with depression, the solution is not to cure depression, a better solution is to learn to be unrealistically happy. If your problem is loneliness, the solution is not to cure loneliness, the better solution is to find a way to surround yourself with an abundance of people every day (eg. joining a club or group). Having the better focus on the solution will give you a better solution to the problem.
2. Solve your problems by priority and urgency.
You might have 100 problems! Don´t try to deal with them all at once. Categorize them in terms of urgency and priority. Some problems are urgent but have low priority such as finding some food to cure your grumbling stomach and some problems are less urgent but high priority such as finding out how you are going to pay the mortage in 1-2 months times.
I like to categorize problems by urgency and priority and deal with the ones that will get rid of most of the stress first. Problems contribute to stress and unhappiness, so deal with the ones that will make the biggest difference first. Eg. If your house is on fire, and you have a mortage that is due in 2 weeks, I say deal with the fire first, because that is causing you the most stress.
3. Don´t try to live life without problems, try to live life with better problems.
This is much like trying to play a game without problems. It just doesn´t work. Problems are there to stay. You play the game Monopoly, like my article suggest because they are full of problems. Your job as Tony Robbins mentioned is not to get rid of all your problems, its to have a set of better quality problems. So instead of learning how to pay your bills, you want the problem such as learning how to invest your money by July so that you pay very little tax. So how do you get better problems, as I mentioned before, have better solutions.
4. Problems get bigger, but so does your growth.
Ever noticed how your problems seem to get bigger and bigger as time goes by? This is ok, because it shows that we are growing and that we are becoming more capable. Problems are great because they MAKE us grow and they teach us how to deal with life. Think about a seed, what type of problem does a seed have? It needs to find water, air and sunlight and it needs to break free of the soil. But once it does, it has growth. Once is has growth it has bigger problems! Such as dealing with catepillars, higher requirements for water, competing with other plants. Get the picture. The more problems you deal with the more growth you have, turn yourself from a seed into a tree. Have bigger problems but bigger growth.
5. Focus on your own problems, because dealing with others.
As I mentioned in one of my other articles, learn to deal with your own problems before dealing with other peoples problems. Become and efficient problem solver for yourself and you will naturally become a better problem solver for other people. Ever notice how you can give better advice to people who´ve had the same problem as you? Thats because you learnt how to deal with it, and you can teach them. If you haven´t dealt with similiar problems, its hard to advise others how to deal with something you know very little about. Know yourself intimately, before you get to know others intimately.
6. Solving other peoples problems, do you really need to?
Most people don´t even want you to solve their problems. Most people just want someone to listen to them, or they want to vent out their feelings. Before you try to solve someone´s problems, look at what they really need. Emotional support, a direct solution to their problem, someone to rebound ideas, a wall (someone you can throw something at, but only listens and doesn´t speak), or just some perspective. Most people want to solve their problems on their own, so if this is what they want, make sure you provide the support and ideas, and feedback but not necessarily the solution.
7. Decisions change the flow.
Decisions are the biggest influence on the outcomes of problems. As I mentioned to solve a big problem is to have a bigger and better solution. So make sure that the decisions you make when you encounter a problem are solid decisions that either help you grow, or take you further on the path to solving your problem. Do not be a victim of circumstance, as this is a CHOICE. I can choose to stay in my room and sulk or day, or I can actively go out and seek others who´ve had my same problem, look for people to rebound ideas on, or more feedback. Make the choice to have better decisions which lead to better solutions and you will ultimately change the flow, or outcome of your problems.

Thats if for me guys, please take care and enjoy yourself and remember to live life and FEEL happy every day. This is your choice and you can feel great regardless of your problems, just learn how to deal with them once you take care of yourself.
